Be a Product of the Product

A couple of weeks ago

I was with a couple of friends

And we were at a Young Living essential oil class

Meeting with like-minded oilers!

During the course of the class we watched corporate videos

Announcing new and exciting things that were going to be taking place in the company

Exciting stuff

Stuff we had been hoping and waiting for

Stuff we didn’t even know we wanted

At one point,  we divided up into teams and played a game

So many points for each item of Young Living we had with us

Here we are

Digging through our purses, our pockets

Searching for yet another Young Living product

Lip balm, Lip gloss, Thieves Waterless Hand Cleaner, Oils, Oils and more Oils

Brochures, Flyers, Supplements, NingXia, Nitro

Lotions, Diffusers, Diffuser Jewelry

Books,  T-shirts, Backpacks

Thieves Mints, Thieves Cough Lozenges, Thieves Spray

We just kept pulling out more

Our points were piling up

Our team took the longest to tally because of ALL THE PRODUCT

There were 3 on the team and our totals surpassed all the other teams

By a lot

More than double

Maybe even more than triple

Because after it was all said and done

We found more product that we didn’t even count!

We won!

Our Crown Diamond leader used this game to send home the message

Be a Product of the Product

Let others see you using your Young Living items in your

Every day, Walking around

LIFE

When others see you using your oils

Your supplements

Reading the Chemistry of Oils book

Diffusing Peace & Calming at your desk

They will ask

And you can tell

How this company and all of the products have

Changed Your Life

And how it can change theirs, too!

This game, the message

Be a Product of the Product

Really got me to thinking

I love these oils and supplements and books and lip balm and and and…

But the One I truly want to be a Product of is

Jesus

If you look at me you can tell that I love Young Living

Can others look at me and tell that I LOVE JESUS?

Am I a Product of HIM?

I’m not talking about wearing a t-shirt or having a bumper sticker on my car

Or sharing a meme on Facebook declaring my love for Him

Do I have Jesus spilling out of every nook and cranny of my life?

Do I talk like HIM?

Walk like HIM?

See others like HIM?

Love like HIM?

How long does it take for others to see Jesus in me?

Father,

Help me to live this life that is a gift from You

With an out loud Faith

An out loud Love

An out loud Joy

So that others will see and ask

“Why are you so different?”

And I can say

“It’s all because of Jesus”!

Amen

Future & Hope

The early morning quiet

My favorite time of day

No lights but the Christmas tree

Peace

I sat at the table to read and illustrate a devotion

Today’s was about HOPE

How the Father has plans for us

Plans to give us a Future and a Hope

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord

They are plans for good and not for disaster,

To give you a future and a hope. NLT

How often I have heard this

How often I have quoted it

Today, I read around it

And I found this

Jeremiah 29:7

And work for the peace and prosperity of the city

Where I sent you into exile. NLT

Jeremiah sent this letter to all the people that Nebuchadnezzar had taken

Into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon

Today, I believe, Christians are in exile

Hebrews 11:13-16

13 All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. 14 Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. 15 If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. 16 But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

This world is not our home

We are only passing through

For just a short stay

But while we are here we are to occupy

Build houses and live in them

Plant gardens and eat their produce

Take wives and become fathers of sons and daughters

Seek the welfare of the city (country) where I have sent you into exile

Pray to the Lord on its behalf

This is NOT a political post

I’m just sharing what I read and how it really caused me to pause and think

So often I hear people talking about how they just wish Jesus

Would return and get us out of this mess we’re in

Don’t get me wrong!

Come quickly, Lord Jesus!!

But

We are IN this world

We are not OF it

We are to occupy ’til HE comes

And PRAY

Pray for the welfare of our world

Pray for the welfare of our country

Pray for the welfare of our state

Pray for the welfare of our city

Pray for the welfare of our household

As it goes

So will we

His Name Is Pastor

Never

Not once in 25 years

Did I ever entertain the idea

That one day

I would have to say

Good bye, Pastor

We were all gonna go together

Hand in hand

To meet Jesus in the air

That was the deal

His name is Bill Lay

Given by his mother, Miss Georgia

But we called him

Pastor

Given by his church family, Cornerstone

We have many pastors

But only one Pastor

The word pastor means

to shepherd or literally

to feed

The name Pastor means

One who worships God

And loves people!

And LOVE he did!

Each of us have stories we could tell

Of words fitly spoken in our time of need

Of wisdom given freely

Of hugs so heartfelt

Of a servant’s heart so big

Who taught us to hold on

And encouraged us to let go

Who dreamed dreams bigger than any of us could fathom

And worked right along side of us to make them come true

How he never expected more out of us than he expected out of himself

He beamed with pride when we caught the vision too

He fathered us all

And was Pastor Papa to our children

His door was always open

A listening ear always available

A true giver of grace and mercy

True leadership

True friendship

Pastor loved pasta

And soup

And peanuts

And peanut butter and crackers

And Excel spreadsheets

And reports

And order

And football

And us

And we love him!

He retired once

But said he flunked it and came back

I shared this poem with him at the retirement party

I have never called you Dad
And likely never will
But every time I say your name
The meaning is the same
It means I love you very much
And how proud I am to be
The daughter of the man
Who means so much to me

Pastor

We will continue on with the work of the ministry

For you have taught us well

There is work to be done

And people to love

And we too

Will spend our lives

Mending broken people

His hat says it all

HERE TO SERVE

Pastor

I just wanted to post this again

Not to cause pain

But to honor you again

We love you Pastor

And we miss you!

We are working in a different body now

But we are still following your vision for this area…

To worship God and love people!

I can’t believe it has been 4 years

Sometimes, the memories are so fresh that it seems like yesterday that

You hugged my neck and called me “Dear”

“C” you soon!!

Life Is A Flash Mob!

I’m not sure why it is

But every time I watch a video of a flash mob

I cry!

They can be dancing to Do Re Mi

or

Our God Is An Awesome God

or

Hallelujah Chorus

or

 Christmas carols even

Makes no difference

The waterworks will soon begin

Could it be I cry because I see

Seemingly unrelated, unconnected people

Working together for a common goal?

Or because I see the potential for an unconnected, unrelated person to

Jump right in?

I think it’s because it reminds me of this life we are living right now

Seemingly unrelated, unconnected followers of Jesus

Working together

Expanding the Kingdom

Sharing the Good News

Helping one another to walk

Another day

Sometimes side by side

 Other times from a distance

A constant ebb and flow

Encouragement and accountability

Laughter and tears

Hope and Friendship

Love

I’ve always wanted to be part of a flash mob

I guess I am!

Jealousy? Among Believers?

Nah!

Surely not!

I find it interesting when believers from different churches get together

Seems to be an awful lot of

One-upping going on

I had a conversation that went something like this:

Got a new neighbor. Invited them to church. They came.

Now I hear they are going to your church.

Said with a sad look on the face.

😦

Why would this make you sad?

Why wouldn’t you be happy that the neighbor found a church body they could join with and serve?

When did this become a competition?

Well, it looks like it became a competition back in John 3:25

John’s disciples were sounding a bit upset that Jesus was baptizing new converts and they weren’t the only tank in town!

“Rabbi, the man you met on the other side of the Jordan River, the one you identified as the Messiah, is also baptizing people. And everybody is going to him instead of coming to us.” NLT

I can just hear their whiny voices….

“Not fair! Here we are busting our rears trying to have the cleanest and warmest baptizing tank, and we have the fluffiest towels and we promise to have you in and out in under 30 seconds and we serve coffee and donuts; and not just ANY coffee, we serve only the best and we have real cream and not that chemical junk and our donuts were handmade just this morning by the kitchen staff and along comes someone else, horning in on our business!”

John answered his men with this:

“No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven. You yourselves know how plainly I told, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for Him.’ It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at His success. He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.”

So, if our local churches are preparing the way, does it really matter who gets the next convert? Or the next neighbor?

We ALL should be about the Father’s business and we should ALL be working together to expand HIS KINGDOM; not ours.

Have I Got a Story For You!

Everyone has a Story

Not everyone has someone who will hear it

Everyone you come in contact with during your

Everydaywalkingaroundlife

Has a Story

And they are searching for someone to hear it

Someone to really listen

Someone to take the time to

Stop

Listen

Love

Many times I’ve sat with a grandchild in my lap

Listening to the same story

Over and over again

Listening as if for the very first time

Or visiting with an elderly friend

And hearing again and again

The same story

I’m guilty of not listening too

My children will tell you of times

Multiple times

They would tell me something

And within moments

I would ask the same question

Because truth be told

I wasn’t listening

My brain was already a million miles away

Planning the next step in my already overloaded day

You know

Motherhood

Excuses aside

I truly hope my children felt

Heard

Acknowledged

Important

Because that’s what we all want

And we want to know that this Story

Our Story

Isn’t all there is to this life

That surely there is more

And that’s where we come in

Encouraging and reminding one another

That Jesus isn’t finished writing our Story

He wants much more for us

And through us

He wants us to share our Story of His Grace in our lives

So that others will know

There IS more

So today

As you go about your

Everydaywalkingaroundlife

Be sure to

Stop

Listen

Your Story for His Glory

Have I Got a Story For You!

You Know What Makes You Specil??

I do
I know I know

Special is spelled incorrectly

But it was written originally by a 7 year old

She was entertaining herself one day this past summer

Doing as her Papa does

Drawing on a napkin

Must be in the genes

I forever will treasure this particular napkin

Not only because it was drawn upon by my granddaughter

But because it helps me see that she is watching me

And it reminds me that what I do or say matters

She is watching

She is learning

Not only what Jesus is doing in me

But

What I’m doing with Him

She recognizes that without Him

I am nothing

But with Him

I’m SPECIL

I need reminding

When life gets crowded

And I feel like I’m not contributing

When life gets rushed

And I feel like I accomplish nothing

I can stop

Breathe

And remember

Through Christ

I can do all things

Because He first loved me

I can love

Dacey's Napkin Note

You know what makes you Specil?

You are super nice

You love everone…and

You have Faith in

Jesus

Thank you, Dacey!

Thank You, Jesus!
