Don’t Judge Me!

Judging
to form an opinion or estimate

  MATTHEW 7

1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you

You rarely hear anything about judging unless someone is doing something that they KNOW is wrong

Generally it goes something like this

Me: “Where are you living these days?”

They: “We are living in the apartments near the school.”

Me: “Who’s we?”
(asked in complete innocense)

They: “Me and my boyfriend. And no, we are not married! I’m not perfect! Never have been and never will be! Don’t you dare sit there and judge! The Bible says, ‘Judge not lest ye be judged’!”

Rarely does a conversation proceed in this manner

Me: “Where are you living these days?”

They: We are living in the apartments near the school.”

Me: “Who’s we?”
(again, asked in complete innocense)

They: “Me and my husband. Don’t judge me! There is only one perfect one and His name is Jesus! I’m not perfect! Never have been and never will be! Not this side of Heaven! Don’t you dare sit there and judge me! You have no right. The Bible says, ‘Judge not lest ye be judged’!”

Seems silly, doesn’t it?

We all form opinions or make judgement calls all day long, in every situation

Every time we decide whether something is right, wrong, beautiful, ugly, silly, big, little, funny, inhumane, dumb, crazy, hard-working, lazy, smooth, rough, flat, hilly, cold or hot
we are making a JUDGEMENT!

Everyone who reads this is going to perform a judgement

You will like it or not

You will agree or disagree

As Jesus followers, we form our opinions based on the truth of God’s Word

At least, we should

The Word doesn’t stop with “don’t judge or you will be judged”

It goes on to say that the guidelines you use to judge will be used to judge you

Guidelines from the Word;  Love, Mercy, Grace and Truth

If you use these generously, they will be used generously with you

Judgements made by walking in Love are NOT finger pointing

They are helping hands

  1. I love that statement – “Judgements made by walking in Love are NOT finger pointing They are helping hands. Interesting that you would bring up judging when the Holy Spirit corrected me this morning on that very thing.
