Cinderella Syndrome

In my own little corner in my own little chair

I can be whatever I want to be

These are words from a song in Cinderella

Cinderella doesn’t have a place in the rest of the house to sit

She isn’t allowed to mingle with the rest of the family

But her little chair by the fire is all hers

No one elses

In her chair, she dreams of all she would like to be

Dreams of all the places she would like to go

Dreams of someone to love her

Dreams of something different

Dreams of something better

Cinderella’s dreams helped her to bear the everyday drudgery of her life

Cinderella! Do this!

Cinderella! Do that!

But in her chair, her dreams were hers

And life was beautiful and not covered in soot

Had Cinderella been content to just sit in her chair and dream

Her dreams likely would have not come true

She had to follow those dreams

She followed them all the way to the castle of the king

There she met her prince and all her dreams come true

Life isn’t a fairy tale but God does give us dreams

Dreams and plans that are bigger than we are

Desires so strong they can be overwhelming

But if all we do is sit in our little chair by the fire

Thinking about how wonderful it would be if those dreams and desires come true

Then all we are going to have is a pile of ashes

We have to get out of that chair, equip ourselves and go chasing after that dream

What dreams have you been dreaming?

Are you still in your chair?

Time to lace up your running shoes and GO!

  1. I’m following my dream this week in going to Israel. It never seemed possible but with our great big awesome God, all things are possible.
