Flapping in the Breeze

Don’t you wish you had an Editor that followed you around all the time?

Every time something rude, insensitive or down right wrong came out of your mouth

ZAP! It would be no more!

It’s not like I start out the day intending to shoot someone down with my words

Or that I have a secret agenda to blurt out ignorant gems one after another

It just  happens that way

It seems that one session of runaway words

acts as fertilizer for a bumper crop of more outbursts

An avalanche of stupidity can escape from your thoughts to your mouth with lightening speed

Before you know it, damage has been done

Eyes that just moments ago held you in high regard

Now look at you with a bottomless pit of hurt

Laughter has been replaced with anger

And dare I say

Hatred in place of love

All because of words unedited

An unbridled tongue

A moment of thoughtlessness

Holy Spirit, be the editor that I need and

Help me, Father, to be quick to hear and

SLOW to speak!

Proverbs 25:11
The right word at the right time
is like a custom-made piece of jewelry,
The Message (MSG)

Proverbs 18:21
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

NIV 2011

  1. Beautifully said, Marijo…and I’ve never heard you say an unkind word, only sweet words (and funny and poignant)!!!
